Centrally located in the great state, Groesbeck was home to many native peoples belonging to the Comanche and Tonkawa Nations. The incorporation of Groesbeck in 1871 came shortly after the Houston and Texas Central railroads were established through Limestone County. After the railroads were established, cotton production in the 19th and 20th centuries became increasingly prevalent.
