As a land broker, people ask me all the time..."Eric, do you ever find a place with a big creek, a cool cabin, mature timber, great hunting, and enough privacy that I can truly get away from everything?"
My answer is usually the same. "Yes... but they don't come along very often." Chatahospee Creek Farmstead is one of those rare places.
It's not just a property. It's a place to disappear... and reconnect with what matters most. Tucked away in the gently rolling hills of Tallapoosa County, Alabama, this is the kind of place that reminds you what life is supposed to feel like.
It's only about 20 miles from beautiful Lake Martin, approximately 30 miles from Auburn, and roughly 15 miles from grocery stores, restaurants, and everyday conveniences. Close enough when you need them... but far enough away that the outside world seems to disappear the moment you pull through the gate.
The centerpiece of the property is an incredible off-grid cabin perched just steps from the banks of Chatahospee Creek. And what a creek it is. Not a small seasonal stream. A beautiful, year-round creek whose gentle sound becomes the soundtrack to your stay.
The cabin is completely self-sufficient, powered by solar energy with a propane generator backup. You'll enjoy many of the comforts of home, including a full kitchen, full bathroom, hot water, refrigerator, microwave, television, and a mini-split heating and cooling system.Truth be told, you'll probably find yourself opening the screened doors instead. The cool breeze drifting off the creek keeps the cabin remarkably comfortable for much of the year.
For cooler evenings, there's a wood-burning stove that makes the cabin feel even more inviting. The water comes from a private well, and I have to admit... it's some of the best-tasting water you'll ever drink.
One of my favorite places is the screened porch overlooking the creek. There's even a daybed where you can spend the night listening to the water roll by beneath a sky full of stars... or simply enjoy one of the best afternoon naps of your life. It's hard to describe unless you've experienced it.
The cabin also features a cozy sleeping loft that offers a comfortable place to settle in after a day of hunting, fishing, or relaxing by the creek.
Outside, you'll find a storage shed and a pole barn with lights, providing plenty of room for your tractor, ATVs, and equipment.
For the outdoorsman, this property is exceptional: A sprawling four-acre food plot near the heart of the farm attracts healthy populations of deer and turkey and has produced some outstanding hunts over the years.
One of the property's most unique features is a suspension bridge crossing Chatahospee Creek, providing access to the other side of the property while adding a sense of adventure that's hard to find anywhere else.
And then there's my favorite spot: The beach. Yes... a beach. A beautiful sandy stretch along the creek complete with a rope swing, room to build a fire, cook out with family, skip rocks, cool off on a hot summer afternoon, or simply sit in a chair and watch the water roll by.
Places like this don't just create memories. They create traditions.
What I love most about Chatahospee Creek Farmstead isn't something you can measure on a survey. It's what happens after you arrive. The stars seem brighter. Coffee tastes better on the porch. Steaks somehow taste even better cooked over an open fire. Conversations last longer. Kids spend more time exploring than staring at screens. Families reconnect. Even though a cell phone signal booster provides reliable service when you need it, you'll probably notice something interesting... Nobody seems to care much about checking their phone. Life simply slows down here. And somehow, that's exactly what we've all been searching for.
I've had the privilege of selling some incredible recreational properties over the years. Without question, Chatahospee Creek Farmstead is one of the coolest. If you've been searching for a place where hunting is outstanding, fishing is just steps away, the creek becomes part of your everyday life, and every weekend feels like a chance to recharge, you owe it to yourself to experience this property in person.
Some places are bought. Others are felt. The truly special ones...
They become part of your family's story.
