William married Lucile Moncure in 1888, and they had Annie Maud Van Eaton James) and Allenia Archer Van Eaton (McMurtry).
The family relocated to Clarendon, also known as Saints Roost, in early 1902. Mr. Van Eaton became a member of the Masonic Lodge and served on the board of the Methodist Church for many years.
