Lyman County - WP1, Lower Brule, SD
This 320 acre hunting and recreational property in Lyman County, South Dakota offers a diverse landscape, multiple water sources, established habitat features and access to the Missouri River corridor. The area is known for strong wildlife populations, including mule deer, whitetail deer, turkeys, upland birds and seasonal elk use. South Dakota residents also have opportunities to pursue trophy class bull elk in designated units and the terrain surrounding the Missouri River supports consistent wildlife movement throughout the year. The property includes a mix of grassland, rolling hills, brushy draws and river influenced terrain that naturally attracts game. A year-round creek runs through the acreage, providing a dependable water source that enhances habitat quality. Two rural water tire tanks and two earthen dams add additional water availability across the property, supporting both wildlife and potential grazing uses. These features contribute to a landscape that is well-suited for landowners interested in habitat management, hunting, or general recreational ownership. Food sources are already established, with two existing food plots in place and room to expand an additional ten to twenty acres if desired. A small alfalfa field provides another forage component that benefits deer, elk, turkeys and upland birds. The combination of natural cover, water and food sources creates a balanced habitat system that supports year-round wildlife use. The acreage size allows for long-term planning, whether the owner chooses to maintain the current layout or develop additional habitat projects. Perimeter fencing is in place around the property, offering potential for grazing or rotational use if incorporated into a management plan. The terrain includes elevated vantage points that provide wide views of the surrounding landscape, including expansive views of the Missouri River. The river corridor is a major influence on wildlife patterns in this region, and properties in this area often benefit from the natural travel routes created by the breaks and draws leading toward the river. Access to the Missouri River is convenient, with the Iron Nation Boat Launch located across the highway. This provides opportunities for fishing, boating, and additional outdoor recreation. The combination of private land ownership and nearby public water access creates a well-rounded outdoor environment for individuals who value both land-based and water-based activities. The property is located approximately one hour from Pierre, South Dakota, offering access to supplies, lodging and services. Nearby towns include Lower Brule, Chamberlain, Oacoma, Reliance and Kennebec. These communities provide groceries, fuel, hardware, and other essentials for landowners and visitors. The broader region is characterized by a blend of agricultural production and native habitat. Cropland, prairie, and river breaks intersect to create a landscape that supports wildlife throughout the year. Elk, mule deer and whitetail deer use the rugged terrain and cover near the river, while turkeys and upland birds are commonly found in areas with grassland, brush, and scattered timber. The propertys size and features make it suitable for individuals interested in hunting, habitat improvement, or recreational land ownership. Overall, this 320 acre property offers a combination of water features, established food sources, natural habitat, and access to the Missouri River corridor. The landscape supports a wide range of wildlife and provides opportunities for landowners to develop long-term management plans based on their goals. Buyers should evaluate the property according to their intended use and complete all due diligence related to utilities, access, and potential improvements.

First called Minnekahta (hot waters) by the Lakota people, Hot Springs is known as the southern gateway to the Black Hills.
Hot Springs is home to the largest Columbian mammoth exhibit in the world, as well as a wild horse sanctuary—where hundreds of mustangs roam thousands of acres of land. From here, you can visit the pioneer era, tour one of the longest caves in the world, or play 18 holes on one of South Dakota’s premiere public golf courses. Then relax in warm, healing, mineral springs.
With easy access to the area’s greatest attractions, great year-round weather, distinct sandstone architecture, fantastic outdoors activities—and, of course, the signature mineral waters—Hot Springs is like no other Black Hills town.
Founded in 1875 near the site where gold was first discovered in French Creek, Custer is the oldest established town in the Black Hills. This small community is considered one of the most beautiful areas in the Black Hills, with an extensive network of trails and backcountry roads left behind by early pioneers, ranchers, and loggers. It’s conveniently located within a short driving distance of popular attractions such as Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Crazy Horse Memorial, and Jewel Cave National Monument.
Attractions
History is a big deal in the Black Hills, and the 1881 Courthouse Museum houses one of the region’s most extensive collection of historical artifacts dating back to Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer’s 1874 Black Hills Exhibition. This former courthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and features exhibits on Native Americans, mining and minerals, Victorian life, ranching, forestry, and military artifacts from the Revolutionary War through Operation Desert Storm. There’s also an original jail cell, one-room schoolhouse, and collection of antique cars. Four Mile Old West Town allows visitors to experience what life was like in the Old West as they wander through 50 open-door buildings on a self-guided tour. The Gordon Stockade is an exact replica of a log fortress built in 1874 to protect the Gordon Party from attacks by the Sioux during the Black Hills Gold Rush.
No trip to Custer is complete without exploring the outdoor scenery. The Custer Skywalk is a series of short trails that begin at Harbach Park, two blocks off Main Street. Head left for a covered observation point, then continue on the trail to the right to reach Big Rock Observation Point; both offer stunning views of the Black Hills and the city of Custer. The half-mile trail winds through ponderosa pine forests and, while the steep uphill climb may leave visitors out of breath, the views) are well worth the exertion.
Custer State Park may not be within the city limits, but it’s a must-see for visitors to the area any time of the year. This 71,000-acre nature and wildlife reserve offers plenty of opportunity for outdoor recreation and features some of the area’s most impressive scenery. You won’t even need to leave the comfort of your car if you opt for a drive along Iron Mountain Road or the Needles Highway. Impressive granite rock formations can be found at Cathedral Spires and Sylvan Lake. Hiking, fishing, camping, and swimming are all popular pastimes. The 18-mile Wildlife Loop Road provides visitors with up-close looks at wildlife such as bison, pronghorn antelope, prairie dogs, coyotes, elk, deer, and the park’s famous “begging burros.”
The community of Custer prides itself on being a destination for foodies. After you’re done exploring the attractions, grab a bite to eat or a tasty beverage from one of the town’s excellent restaurants or breweries!

BLACK HILLS MOUNT RUSHMORE
LODE GOLD VEIN
MINING CLAIM OWNERSHIP
OWNER FINANICNG
This is a legally registered, 20.66 acre gold and gem, LODE Mining Claim for sale, the Rushmore Jewel Lode #13, with a quartz/gold mineral vein running thru the claim for 1500 feet.
13 miles from the town of Custer, an Old West town with all the necessities.
This area of the Black Hills has a definite feeling of the Old West where Cowboy Culture still lives on, in an area where Buffalo still roam free.
Located on a side road from the main road, adding to the claim privacy.
Camp on your claim in large open areas off the road, or at area National Forest campgrounds.
Just 4 miles NE of the Jewel Cave National Monument with public access.
Mount Rushmore National Memorial is about 37 miles NE.
The Crazy Horse Memorial is about 17 miles NE.
Badlands National Park is about 2 hours East.
Located in gold rich Custer County.
Gold prices have reached an all time high of over $4000 per ounce.
Amounts of float (loose sliding rocks) are on the claim.
In lode mining claim prospecting, float refers to loose fragments of rock, ore, or mineral-bearing material that have broken off from a larger, solid bedrock deposit (or "lode") and have been transported downhill.
Finding float is a key first-step clue in prospecting because it indicates that a potentially richer vein of ore exists somewhere uphill from where the fragment was found.
We feel we are selling more than the gold and minerals on beautiful land.
You would be acquiring an experience that will give you a good feel for what the old time prospectors must have felt during the days of the original Montana Gold Rush.
A mining claim is an affordable way to enjoy the beauty of the land combined with the adventure of panning for gold.
It is a good sign here that experienced prospectors have lode claims in this same area and we are also in a great position for gold.

National Forests remained open at all times during the virus with a televised invitation by the Director for families to visit them as safe places for family recreation, making our mining claims soe of the safest places for your family to enjoy and get away from all the nonsense.
A lode claim differs from our placer claims, as on a lode claim you can dig into the mountain side and can even go to the extent of building a mine shaft.
Having a lode claim is an advantage as you can dig into the claim with a shaft if you choose.
Our lode claim has veins of valuable minerals including gold in veins (called lodes) cutting thru rocks. Quartz and gold are frequently found together and digging into the quartz vein is called chasing the vein.
A vein of quartz/gold runs thru the claim from South to North.
We also found the gems, Rose Quartz, the state mineral, Feldspar, and Blue-Green Tourmaline.
On the claim I found a quartz vein with gold traces in the rock.
Pick and shovel, rock hammer, metal detector, and is hard rock mining.
I did not expose the whole vein, though was able to follow it going through the claim, intermittently.
The process of lode, hard rock mining, is the process where gold is extracted directly from the lode vein beneath the ground. Dig down about 3 feet as go through the claim, then pick, shovel, and rock hammer working the sides of that hole. Filling in the holes when leave the claim as required by the national forest.
For the use of any machinery, you need to file a Plan of Operation with the BLM for approval.
Scratch your rock ore against an unglazed white ceramic streak plate.
If it's gold, it will leave a golden streak. Or scratch the surface of the specimen with a knife. Gold is a soft metal that will show scratch marks.
Our claim is a great area for gold and gem prospecting.
There are many well known South Dakota attractions within driving distance of this beautiful Black Hills area.
Pine forest is on part of the claim.
Beautiful Sylvan Lake 23 miles NE has many water activities.

Youll find multiple wineries on the Highway 385 wine trail between Hill City and Deadwood, while quality breweries are dotted across the region.
BLACK HILLS GOLD RUSH
After Horatio Ross discovered gold along a creek in the Black Hills in the 1870s, one of the last great gold rushes descended into this area of South Dakota.
The Black Hills Gold Rush took place in Dakota Territory in the United States.
It began in 1874 following the Custer Expedition and reached a peak in 187677.
The first arrivals were a force of 1,000 men led by George Armstrong Custer to investigate reports that the area contained gold, even though the land was owned by the Sioux. This would begin Custers conflicts with Native American Tribes.
In the ensuing decades, people have continued to find pockets of gold in the Black Hills.
The largest and deepest mine in the Western Hemisphere, Homestake Mine netted some 41 million ounces of gold in its 126 years of operation.
SOUTH DAKOTA ROCKHOUNDING
In South Dakota youll be excited to learn that there are some truly amazing rocks and minerals to find. Most of the best rockhounding sites are in and around the Black Hills.
The highlight of South Dakota rockhounding is undoubtedly the highly prized and valuable Fairfield agate, a variety of agate noted for its vibrant colors and distinctive fortification banding. These agates are named after the town of Fairfield around which they are most commonly found, and they are very popular with lapidary artists and collectors.
Gems to be found are Agates, Rose Quartz, Jade, Jasper, Calcity crystals, Amethyst, Tourmaline, and Blue Chalcedony.
One of the biggest reasons rockhounds flock to South Dakota is the wide variety of rocks and minerals that can be found here. Many collectors are interested in the Fairburn agates and rose quartz the state is famous for.
This western part of SOUTH DAKOTA is a rockhound and vacation paradise and has several important gem and mineral deposits in addition to the famous gold deposits of the Black Hills.
JEWEL CAVE NATIONAL MONUMENT
Beneath the Black Hills of South Dakota is the intriguing underground world of Jewel Cave. With over 202 miles of explored passageway, Jewel Cave ranks as one of the longest caves in the world.
Brilliant color and fragile rocks reveal an amazing ecosystem not visible anywhere else. The third longest cave in the world has much to offer to a wide range of those interested in its natural glory.
The splendor of this underground wilderness is revealed through fragile formations and glimpses of brilliant color. The maze of passages lures explorers, and its scientific wealth remains a mystery. This resource is truly a jewel in the National Park Service.
