Located in Cibola County, New Mexico, Trophy Elk Ranch Estate consists of 4,276.12 deeded acres, this one-of-a-kind ranch is richly diverse in history, big game, and beautiful scenery.
From the ranch there is breathtaking scenery and stunning views to the west, views of sandstone that rise from a bed of Ponderosa and pion pine. From the north, one will have views of the vast Zuni Mountains.
The ranch has primarily been used as a working cattle ranch throughout spring and summer and then transitions into a recreational hunting ranch in the fall and winter. Trophy Elk Ranch Estate carries a resident elk herd annually of approximately 50. The herd substantially increases to around 300 through October-December as part of the unit 10 migration route. Bull elk in the class of up to 400 inches have been documented in the area. Mule deer are also residents, with Bucks up to 200+ inches being harvested on the ranch. With the abundant wildlife, there are opportunities for hunting Miriam Turkey and black bear.
Historically the ranch historically receives 3 bull elk tags, 5 either sex elk archery tags, and 4 cow elk tags. Landowner tags for mule deer, bear, and turkey are obtained over the counter. Western New Mexico big game units have very flexible elk seasons for landowner tags being available from September 1st to December 31st.
Evidence of elk activity is found throughout the ranch, from rubs and trails in every arroyo to wallows at every stock pond. Water sources on the ranch include a centrally located, highly productive solar water well in addition to three stock ponds.
The very level, highly usable land is vacant and holds no current structures; it is fully fenced with 19.5 miles of fencing and has ranch roads throughout its interior for access. The property is 200 yards from a main paved highway, borders a county road, and has power on two sides. The ranch is located within 30 minutes of Interstate 40 and is under two hours from Albuquerque International Airport.

Improvements
Bear Valley Ranch includes multiple structures, and essential infrastructure to support various land uses. While there are multiple homes present on the property, they are in poor condition and do not contribute to the overall value of the land.
Two wells provide reliable water access, supporting both residential and agricultural potential. Electricity is available at multiple points throughout the ranch, offering flexibility for future development. Lower densities of deer, turkey, antelope, and predators are also in the area, and provide OTC hunting opportunities for the ranch owner who registers the ranch through NMDGF. Fishing is available in many locations throughout the local area, as are hiking and mountain biking.
Winter sports such as skiing and snowshoeing are available in less than 4 hours of drive time at Santa Fe Ski Area and Pajarito Mountain, and Durango Mountain Resort can be reached in 4 hours 30 mins.

On the market for the first time in 40 years! Tallahogan Ranch is a one-of-a-kind +/-305-acre property featuring a main house, guest house, and two traditional Navajo hogans. A rare year-round spring-fed pond attracts wildlife, while towering ponderosas, pion, and juniper offer excellent cover. Set in the high desert out where the golden eagles fly, this ranch offers rich history, exceptional privacy, and prime hunting.
Land
The +/-305 acres of Tallahogan Ranch are gently rolling with sporadic rock outcroppings and high-for-the-area tree cover. The foliage consists of a mix of pinon and juniper, with stands of mature ponderosa pines scattered throughout. The timber on the property is virgin; a few of the alligator juniper have bases more than 10 feet wide! There is a good mix of grassland to tree coverage, and the property is also fenced and cross-fenced, so cattle, sheep or horse grazing is possible.
There are multiple seasonal dirt tanks on the property which could easily be improved to hold water longer into the dry seasons. The current owner has the surface water rights, which is a relatively rare feature in the Zuni River Basin watershed. Perhaps the most important feature of the ranch is the year-round, spring- and well-fed pond just outside the front door of the main house. This historical pond is registered with the county and is one of the few year-round water holes in the area, and as such helps hold a large herd of elk in the local area. Local folklore has it that Billy the Kid once worked cattle as a ranch hand in this area, and this spring-fed, year-round pond was a common stopping place.
The property borders two small parcels of Navajo Nation land with larger sections of BLM and State Land bordering those, so the new owners will not have to worry about future encroachment on their privacy.
*Buyer to verify all listing information.
Improvements
This property includes two homes as well as two traditional Navajo hogans and multiple outbuildings.
The main house is a 2052 sqft, 3 BR/2BA Clayton Homes custom manufactured home built in 2011. This home has all the amenities, including an indoor hottub and sauna in a sunroom as well as an outdoor sauna on the deck, and a wood-fired outdoor pizza oven. A large kitchen/dining area provides plenty of cabinet space for dishes and food. There are two wood burning fireplaces and two living areas, a large master suite with ensuite bath, and forced air heating.
The smaller house is a 1056 sqft, 2 BR/2BA mobile home built in 1997 on a permanent foundation. This cozy home would make an excellent guest house or caretaker's home. With an attached, fully enclosed sunroom and a large outdoor deck, the home feels much larger than its size. There is a 10'x25 wooden storage shed with roll-up door and separate walk-in entrance next to the smaller house.
The hogans are simple circular shaped buildings that are the traditional homes of the Navajo culture. These hogans are structurally sound, and with a little elbow grease could be put into great shape and could make a unique income addition as rentals .
West of the main house is a horse corral with loafing shed and equipment storage area and another sheet metal and beam loafing shed in the southwest corner of the property.
Property is fully fenced and cross-fenced, and the current owner has been maintaining the fencing even in the absence of livestock on the property.
*Buyer to verify all information within listing details. Interior photos are coming soon!
Recreation
Tallahogan Ranch is located in GMU 12, which is renowned for its elk herd and mild terrain. Bulls here are known to get big and finding them isn't hard just look for water! With it's year-round pond, Tallahogan ranch is an elk magnet. This ranch has not been hunted in over 40 years, and animals use it as a sanctuary when hunting pressure in the nearby public lands picks up in the fall. By registering the ranch through the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish's Elk Private Land Usage System (ePLUS), the landowner may be able to obtain elk hunting tags**.
Lower densities of deer, turkey, antelope, and predators are also in the area, and provide OTC hunting opportunities for the ranch owner who registers the ranch through NMDGF. Simple improvements such as the addition of food plots, feeders, and revamping of dirt tanks could increase the huntability of an already impressively populated ranch!
Fishing is available in many locations throughout the local area, as are hiking and mountain biking.
Winter sports such as skiing and snowshoeing are available in less than 4 hours of drive time at Santa Fe Ski Area and Pajarito Mountain, and even Durango Mountain Resort can be reached in 4 hours 30 mins.

**Hayden Outdoors makes no guarantee that the new landowner will receive Landowner tags through the ePLUS program, but may assist in the application and/or provide recommendations of improvements to increase chances.

Cibola County - Laguna, NM
The Lobo East Ranch is located approximately 40 air miles west of Albuquerque, New Mexico. This ranch truly epitomizes the description of New Mexico being the Land of Enchantment. The topography and views from parts of this ranch are stunning, which makes it one of the most scenic in the state. Driving time to the ranch is approximately 1.5 hours from the Albuquerque International Airport and about 1 hour from Double Eagle Airport. Access to the property is provided by NM State maintained roads. The Lobo East Ranch is a 100% deeded ranch unit. Two additional public roads traverse the northern and southern boundary areas. A large state-owned wildlife area adjoins the Lobo East Ranch northern boundary. A large private ownership adjoins the ranch on its west boundary. The Lobo East Ranch is a functional working cattle ranch with the added feature of Big Game hunting opportunities.
Topography
The terrain of the Lobo East Ranch varies from mesas with steep fractured rock ledges and ridges to lower wide valley bottoms. These rugged features offer beautiful views throughout the ranch. The northern portion of the ranch encompasses Madera Mesa, which has scenic views of Mt. Taylor to the west, the Sandia Mountains to the east, and the Jemez Mountains to the north. Immediate views to the north include numerous massive steep protruding volcanic up thrust cones or plugs, which tower over the newly acquired State Game Commission Wildlife Area. These volcanic cones have unusual and very striking features which were formed when molten lava exploded from deep within the earth. Madera Mesa offers recreational and smaller tract development capability with its dramatic scenery and the added feature of adjoining a NM State Wildlife Area.
Elevations on the Lobo East Ranch vary over 1,600 vertical feet. Reaching 7,700 feet on Madera Mesa and descending to approximately 6,050 feet in the southeastern area of the ranch. This ranch is located in a semi-arid region of New Mexico. Annual precipitation is in the range of 8-12 inches and the property generally receives snow during the winter, with precipitation and snowfall increasing at the higher elevations. The combination of the mesa country, rocky side slopes, scenic volcanic cones on the adjoining Game Commission land, and the wide lower valleys truly give the ranch a western movie set look.
When the new county road fencing is constructed, the ranch will be fenced and cross-fenced into nine operational pastures and three traps. Rugged rocky rim rock ledges also serve as natural pasture boundaries. The ranch supports a good variety of native grasses along with desirable browse for wildlife. Vegetation ranges from four-wing saltbush, more commonly known as Chamisa and scattered juniper in the lower elevations, to oak, mountain mahogany, pion, and Ponderosa Pine on Madera Mesa. The ranch is adequately watered by five wells, pipeline drinkers, numerous earthen tanks, springs, and seasonal creeks.
Improvements
The Lobo East Ranch is well improved. The main ranch headquarters are in the southern portion of the ranch, featuring a scenic view of Lobo Mesa. These improvements include a 3,700 square foot four-bedroom, three-bath frame/stucco owners home, a 1,500 square foot three-bedroom, one-and-a-half bath bunkhouse, a modular managers home with two bedrooms and one bath, a 3,000 square foot steel frame equipment shop, 3,900 square foot hay barn, a 2,000 square foot hangar, a 1,120 square foot horse barn and a nice set of corrals/shipping pens.
Wildlife and Recreation
The wildlife features on the Lobo East Ranch are impressive. Game species include Elk, Mule Deer, Black Bear, Mountain Lion, Bobcat, Barbary Sheep, Turkey, and waterfowl. The Lobo East Ranch is located in New Mexico Big Game Unit 9. This portion of Unit 9 is in a secondary management area, thus making all species of big game hunting over the counter. The ranch has not been hunted by the owner for the past several years. As such, the ranch is not currently signed up in the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish E-PLUS program. However, the ranch can easily be reinstated in this system.
Minerals and Resources
The property is in the San Juan Basin, which is recognized as an area potentially rich with natural gas deposits. The owner will reserve 50% of owned oil, gas, and minerals plus 50% of reversionary oil, gas, and mineral royalty rights. Livestock and domestic water rights along with all wind and solar rights will convey with the property. The ranch has an extensive road network, adequate fencing, well-maintained improvements and good livestock watering facilities. These substantial improvements offer a desirable depreciation schedule to a purchaser. Past years property taxes have been extremely reasonable, being approximately $7,400 per year or 40 per acre.
Remarks
The Lobo East Ranch is very realistically priced at $12,857,500 or approximately $695 per deeded acre. It is seldom that a ranch such as the Lobo East Ranch is offered for sale. This property is priced right and is ready to own, operate, and enjoy.

UNIT 12
Elk, Mule Deer, Pronghorn, Black Bear, and Mountain Lion hunting
ELK
Elk hunting on Rincon Ranch is world class with large bulls and a variety of seasons to hunt. The Elk feed on the native grasses and bed in the canyons throughout the year. Multiple water sources throughout the property, in an otherwise very arid region, helps attract and hold the Elk on the ranch. Great Elk genetics in the region, coupled with ample feed and water on the property, allows bulls to grow impressive antlers. Having only a few large neighboring ranches translates into minimal hunting pressure in the area, allowing the Elk to reach older age classes.
The location and habitat hold Elk year-round, and bulls will remain on the property throughout the fall giving a variety of hunting options. Elk will rut hard starting in August and carry through into October, giving both archery and rifle hunters lots of high intensity action. A great bull to cow ratio results in a very competitive rut, with bulls aggressively seeking cows and fighting off rivals. After the rut winds down, bulls from surrounding ranches will seek the seclusion of the cliffs to recover. November and December can see some of the biggest bulls show up, and hunters that glass the cliffs can find some large trophy bulls.
The ranch currently receives 12 bull Elk license through the E-PLUS system:

MULE DEER
Mule Deer enjoy the same habitat and low hunting pressure as the Elk, and can also reach older age classes and grow some big antlers. Plenty of velvet bucks live on the ranch through the summer and fall, and utilize the feed, water, and bedding resources. The archery season dates allow bowhunters to pursue bucks while they are still in velvet, while muzzleloader season and any-legal-weapon season occurs after their velvet is shed. All three seasons have Private-Land-Only OTC tags available. The unique and highly sought after Enhancement Tags (Rincon Ranch receives 2 per year) allows hunting during the peak of the Mule Deer rut in December and January. Very few of these tags exist in the region, and offers a rare chance to hunt Mule Deer during the rut in New Mexico. These 2 Enhancement Tags give owners the opportunity for a truly exceptional Mule Deer hunt.

The owner is an American Artist, instructor, and videographer whose work is immediately recognizable and collected worldwide.
The home and amenities were built by hand by the owner over the course of a few years. His attention to detail and artistic talents are expressed in the workmanship. The owner milled all the lumber from logs harvested on the property. The stonework, both in the main house and in the other buildings, and the landscaping come from the property.
The home, apartment, and garage are built using a Metal Building by Rigid Buildings as the shell. The metal building design was chosen over traditional wood or log construction for its durability and fire mitigation. Being in the middle of the forest, a metal building will not burn and is an excellent choice for this area. Additional fire mitigation has been done around the home.
The Interior design is based on a Japanese open-design floor plan and was built with comfort in mind. The open design, both inside and outside, is perfect for entertaining out-of-town guests; imagine sitting around the pond or one of the fire pits, enjoying your favorite beverage, enjoying the mountain air, watching the sunset, and then watching the stars that seem close enough to touch.
