Colfax County - 1 The Ranch at Angel Fire, Angel Fire, NM
The Ranch at Angel Fire is a rare legacy opportunity to own the largest privately held property in Angel Fire Resort. This 186 acre ranch is a crown jewel of alpine beauty, peace, and possibility. Entering the property you cross a charming, village maintained bridge overlooking adjoining greenbelt, beaver pond, year round streams and horses grazing in wild flower meadows. Wheeler Peak, New Mexicos tallest mountain, anchors a stunning view to the Northwest. Wind your way through whispering aspen groves, spruce, tall pines, and oak glades to the upper portions of the property, where ancient rock bluffs punctuate sweet grass meadows with dramatic 360 views of Wheeler Peak, Osha Mountain, Monte Verde Lake and the entire Moreno Valley. Two year-round mountain streams offer watering holes for local wildlife, including the abundant elk herds, white tail deer, mule deer, bear, mountain lions, and bobcats which grace the mountains and valleys of Angel Fire. Three existing cleared building sites, with stunning sunset views of the lake and Sangre de Cristo mountains, are a natural starting place to create your sanctuary at The Ranch at Angel Fire. But the ace in the hole for discerning buyers is the propertys zoning, as it offers both Residential and Mixed Use, the highest use zoning classification. Such rare zoning enables development, or sub-development of parts of the property in whatever ways your dreams take you: Upscale boutique hotel? Destination spa or retreat? In recent years the resort has added world class downhill mountain bike trails. Chairlifts equipped to carry bikes take you to the mountain top from which you can hike or bike down, or descend via zipline over the beautiful Sangre de Cristos mountains. Literally five minutes from Angel Fire airport and the town of Angel Fire, your getaway can be fully supported by the towns stores and restaurants. You are also within an easy day trip for exploring some of the Southwests most iconic towns, cultural centers and art meccas including Taos, Santa Fe, Albuquerque and Georgia OKeefes Ghost Ranch at Abiqui. SOME LEMITAR HISTORY:Lemitar's population was about 400 people in 1850 to 1860. Between 1870 and 1885, the population grew to around 800. During these years, several events put Lemitar into the history books. The first being, the most famous resident, Governor Manuel Armijo. He served as the last Governor of New Mexico under Mexican rule. After surrendering to General Kearny in 1846 during the Mexican American war, he was arrested and sent to Mexico City for cowardice and for desertion. He was acquitted of these charges after proving his 400 Mexican soldiers were no match against the 1,500 Americans that entered Santa Fe. His surrender was to spare the bloodshed of his countrymen. After his acquittal in 1850, Manuel Armijo returned to his family home in Lemitar. He farmed and ranched on his property east of the Lemitar church. Armijo died in 1854 at 60 years of age. His brother Juan lived across theriver in Sabino. There is a strong local legend of a buried treasure. One version states that upon his return from Mexico, Manuel Armijo buried a chest of gold coins somewhere on his property. After a couple of years of the location being trampled by his sheep, he was unable to find the buried gold before he died. Legend has it, the Mexican gold coins are still buried somewhere east of the church. Another version states he buried the gold behind his Lemitar home. Upon his death, his brother Juan hired a Navajo to dig up the chest of coins and had it reburied near his home in Sabino. After the treasure was reburied, Juan Armijo killed the Navajo to leave no witnesses. With this version, the treasure chest remains buried somewhere on the east side of the river from Lemitar. As far as anybody knows, the treasure has never been found. Lemitar County Seat In 1854, shortly after the death of Manuel Armijo, the county seat for Socorro County was transferred from Socorro to Lemitar for undocumented reasons. Perhaps it was to honor the late Manuel Armijo.

The grounds include an abundance of trees, along with a bountiful organic garden and orchard. An aggregate of 20 fireplaces are experienced throughout the estate. Steeped in history, Casa Alegre has been home to a succession of distinguished owners following Governor Dempsey, including an heir to the Weyerhaeuser timber fortune and a member of the Martini & Rossi family. Following a period of limited enhancement, Robert and Miriam Knutson, founders of Education Management Corporation, embarked on a four and a half-year, $18 million restoration of the compound in 2004, enlisting master artisans, architects, and craftsmen to revive the estate to perfection. Their meticulous efforts ranged from restoring infrastructure, building intricate rock walls, to curating 64 distinct window styles that honor the homes original character. Lovingly maintained by its current owners, Casa Alegre has served as the backdrop or cherished family gatherings and elegant philanthropic events. A rare jewel in Santa Fes real estate landscape, this extraordinary estate offers an unrivaled opportunity to own a piece of history, beautifully reimagined for modern luxury living.

Rio Arriba County - 252 County Rd 156, Abiquiu, NM
Shirley MacLaines Plaza Blanca Ranch, set in the stunning landscapes of Abiqui, New Mexico, is where the beauty of the natural world and spiritual peace converge. The ranch, spanning 7,451 acres, is tucked into the dramatic, otherworldly scenery of northern New Mexicos high desert, and it is surrounded by the kind of striking geological features that have inspired artists, photographers, and writers for generations. Plaza Blanca is perhaps best known for its unique white sandstone formations at the ranchs entrance, which rise sharply from the earth to evoke both the surreal and the sublime. These striking white place cliffs were immortalized by the painter Georgia OKeeffe, who was deeply inspired by the area. This legendary ranch also has thousands of acres of piion/juniper forest interspersed with native grasses. The ranch offers sweeping views of the surrounding Chama River Valley, with its red rock mesas, distant mountains, and vivid sunsets that fill the sky with a spectrum of colors. The large 9,000+ square foot hacienda-style home, originally completely off-grid, now features grid-tied solar and wind power, a courtyard, and water supplied from an artesian water well. A caretakers home, barn, and workshop are all conveniently situated near the hacienda. The expansive ranch shares a 7 mile border with the Carson National Forest, and the terrain features a variety of geologically significant features, with elk, mule deer, and other wildlife cruising the property. The ranch offers the chance to explore thousands of acres for geological anomalies and Native American petroglyphs, several of which have been discovered on the property. Plaza Blanca Ranch has been owned by Ms. MacLaine since 1990, making this a rare opportunity to acquire an iconic property.
