There has been historic finds of Gold in the general area and this particular sight was part of a historic mine. The whole area is a fantastic page of our history, loaded with many old mining areas. The town of Silver Springs is a short drives away for supplies and amenities. In around 25 minutes you are able to drive to the town of Fernley, NV for some more major shopping and if you need more of a selection with some major chain stores and restaurants. The area normally has milder winters without much of a snowfall so it is possible to visit year round. The area is great for Four wheeling, hunting, shooting, sightseeing etc. with acres and miles of BLM land to participate in these activities.
