Exclusive Investment Opportunity: Cowan Bar Placer Gold Property
Location: Bannack Mining District, Dillon, Montana
Overview:
The Cowan Bar property presents an exceptional, undeveloped patented placer gold resource located in the historic Bannack Mining District, one of Montanas most significant gold-producing areas. This strategically located land offers an estimated 2.85 million cubic yards of gold-bearing gravels and cemented conglomerate, with substantial potential for high-value mineral extraction.
Key Geologic Features:
Gold Purity: Ranges from 1-9s to 3-9s fine, with a notable silver presence (approximately 1 part silver to 4 parts gold).
Geological Composition:
10-15 feet of low-grade sand and sediment
10-15 feet of river rock sediment
3-10+ feet of high-grade cemented conglomerate
Creek plain material (untested)
Resource Assessment: Geological surveys and past sampling have indicated a high concentration of gold within the target gravels, and early evaluations estimate the propertys value could range from $300 million to $1.3 billion based on current gold prices of $3,000 per ounce.
Historic Activity and Development Potential:
The property has undergone minimal disturbance, with only small-scale placer mining and surface testing conducted, primarily in the upper gravels. The deeper hardpan remains untapped and presents the largest potential for high-value gold extraction.
The 1995 feasibility study from a major mining company proposed a 5,000-yard/day placer mining operation with a 12-year mine life, underscoring the significant commercial potential of this property.
Geological testing and historic reports indicate that much of the resource remains unexploited, creating an opportunity for modern placer mining technology to efficiently extract gold from untouched layers.
Property Highlights:
Strategically Located in a historically rich gold district
Minimal Environmental Impact to date ideal for future development
Potential for Immediate Development using modern extraction methods
Strong Financial Upside: With current gold prices and the untapped resource base, Cowan Bar offers a highly attractive investment opportunity for placer mining operations and long-term resource development.
Next Steps:
Interested parties are invited to review the full geological reports, historical mining data, and reserve calculations upon request. This property is offered as a prime opportunity for both individual investors and mining companies looking to expand their portfolio in the Bannack Mining District.

Beaverhead County - Trapper Creek Road, Melrose, MT
Here are 5 acres for sale surrounded by National Forest with no neighbors, a huge shop, amazing mountain views, trees, elk and deer all near Sappington Creek, Trapper Creek and Trapper Lake and the famed Big Hole River.
Here it is. The Montana mountain property youve been waiting for thats surrounded by the Beaverhead/Deer Lodge National Forest. Let me say that again, its SURROUNDED BY NATIONAL FOREST. Theres no neighbors. No adjacent private land. This is an extremely rare find. Its right out in the middle of the Beaverhead Deer Lodge National Forest not just along the edge of it. Theres an unmaintained county road that comes close to the property and then a short stretch of National Forest road thats open to drive to the property where the shop sits and where theres plenty of other level building or camping areas that are ready to go with some of the most amazing views of the surrounding mountains. Theres Granite Mountain, Lion Mountain, Cleve Mountain, and Sheriff Mountains in the area just to name just a few. The mountains are above tree line and its got that great alpine look and feel. Its a must see to believe and experience.
The property comes with an approximately 8500 square foot shop that has a cement floor and steel beams. The roof and other items are in need of some repair, but the structure of the building is all there. The building could be made into living space, workspace, or storage space or all three. You can park your camper in it for the winter too. Theres lots of room on the ground level and an upper level area as well. This is not a place to live year-round however as theres too much snow and its too far in. It bears repeating, this is NOT a year-round property. Its amazing to find a building of this size up in such a remote area and in such wild country, so buy it now and enjoy the possibilities. Its a rare find and gives you lots of options for having your piece of heaven out in the mountains of Montana.
Sappington Creek runs right by within 100 feet of the property on the National Forest, and it feeds into Trapper Creek which is very nearby as well. Both creeks have cutthroat trout in them for fishing and fresh mountain water right out your back door. Trapper Creek comes out of Trapper Lake which is a high mountain Lake thats only about 2 miles from the property too. It has lots of high mountain cutthroat trout in it for lots and lots of fun. The Pioneer Mountains here have a multitude of high mountain lakes and streams to hike, explore, and fish. If thats not enough the Big Hole River is back down Trapper Creek Road at Melrose, Montana and the Beaverhead River is nearby too. Its a fishermans paradise.
There are the county and National Forest roads and jeep and ATV trails that take you right on to the National Forest from the property and up near the tops of some of these mountains in the area where youll have a chance of seeing mountain goats and bighorn sheep as well as the elk, deer and moose in the area. Its high country at its finest and its close access right from the property. You can also hunt your property for deer and elk or step right out on to the National Forest and take off from there. Theres thousands and thousands of acres and youre right out in the middle of it all. You can hunt both elk and deer with a general tag and theres extra cow tags you can draw for a second elk as well since the elk are so plentiful in Hunting District 331. Theres vast amounts of country to find them in, so you cant go wrong.
The area is rich in mining history as well. Some of the remains of the old towns of Hecla, Lion City, and Trapper City can still be found. They used to sit up in the drainages above the property where the miners worked and brought ore down to this property in hopes of striking it rich on the silver, copper, and other metals these mountains hold. Some evidence of the past mining and piles of the ore can be found on and next to the property on the National Forest, but much of the property is forested and undisturbed too. It now has a remote and quiet feel that you just want to get away to and relax.
This is high elevation snowy country at 7800 feet, so dont ask about living here year-round. Its recreational property at its finest during the summer and fall, but not a place to live in the winter. The road is rough in places too. From Melrose, Montana theres about 8 miles of relatively good gravel road. From there its another approximately 5 miles of rough unmaintained county road with a short stretch of National Forest road to the property. You might consider bringing in a pickup box camper or pulling a small camper in or possibly even trailering some building materials in to fix the shop or build a cabin, but youd have to take it slow, and it would be rough. Melrose which is about 15 miles away has fuel and a place to eat. Its about 46 miles to Dillon and about 50 miles to Butte for more of the amenities and an airport there in Butte.
This is an extremely rare find having such a large structure already in place and being surrounded by National Forest with all these hunting, fishing, and recreating opportunities at your fingertips along with the history and wildlife in the area as well. Youve even got several high mountain creeks right out your back door. The possibilities are endless, so dont wait.
