Jackson County - 11000 North County Road 650 West, Freetown, IN
**Seller will be ordering and having new survey completed - Updated July 2025** Imagine owning a secluded plot of mature hardwoods next to serene ponds and hundreds of acres of Hoosier National Forest. This approximately 12-acre parcel in Jackson County offers just that, along with several hundred feet of creek frontage, a gas line cutout with young herbaceous growth, and abundant wildlife including deer and turkey. It's adjacent to Maine's Pond and connects to a 308-acre tract of public hunting and wildlife viewing areas. The utility-maintained pipeline cutout is mowed every couple of years, naturally creating a food plot and an excellent spot for birdwatching or hunting. Part of the neighboring public land has been carefully managed by the US Forestry Service, and some sections look more like the grassy plains of the western U.S. than Indiana. Access is via HNF land, either by parking at Maine's Pond or along the main road south of the pond. Currently, the parcel is walk-in access only with no direct vehicle access; however, a local surveyor has previously worked with HNF staff to secure easements. This property provides the privacy of owning private land while offering access to hundreds of acres of public land. So, if a gobbler or buck is just over the next hill, it's still within reach to chase! Hoosier National Forest allows hunting of several species, including deer, turkey, coyote, fox, dove, squirrel, raccoon, crow, and more. This parcel is conveniently located just a short drive from Nashville, Seymour, Brownstown, and Columbus. Land in this area is in high demand, and land adjacent to HNF rarely comes available.
